TiviMate is a popular IPTV player for Android TV and Fire OS devices, best known for its cable-style TV guide. It doesn't provide any channels itself — you add your own playlist. This guide shows how to add an XCodes IPTV Xtream Codes login and set it up properly.
What you need
- An Android TV / Google TV device or a Fire OS Fire TV device. TiviMate is designed for TV devices and isn't intended for phones.
- Your XCodes IPTV Xtream Codes details: server URL, username and password.
- Optional: a TiviMate Premium purchase if you want the paid features described below.
Step 1: Install TiviMate
- Android TV / Google TV: install TiviMate from the Google Play Store.
- Fire TV (Fire OS): if TiviMate isn't listed in your Amazon Appstore, the developer provides an official download that can be installed with the Downloader app. Our Firestick guide explains how to use Downloader safely.
Step 2: Add your playlist with Xtream Codes
- Open TiviMate and select Add playlist.
- Choose Xtream Codes (rather than "M3U playlist").
- Enter the server address exactly as provided, including
http://and the port number. - Enter your username and password, then select Next.
- TiviMate connects and shows how many channels, films and series it found. Give the playlist a name and select Done.
Choosing Xtream Codes rather than M3U means TiviMate can load films and series into their own sections and, in most cases, collect the TV guide automatically. If you only have an M3U link, see M3U vs Xtream Codes for what changes.
Step 3: Check the TV guide (EPG)
With an Xtream Codes login, the guide source is usually added automatically. To check:
- Open Settings → EPG.
- Confirm an EPG source is listed and has been updated recently.
- If guide times are off by an hour or more, use the EPG time shift option in the same section.
If the guide is still empty, follow how to fix a missing IPTV guide.
Step 4: Settings worth changing
| Where | Setting | Suggestion |
|---|---|---|
| Settings → Playlists | Update playlist on app start | On, so line-up changes appear |
| Settings → EPG | Update interval | Once a day is enough |
| Settings → Playback | Buffer size | Increase if you see short stutters |
| Settings → Playback | Decoder | Try the other option if a channel has no picture or sound |
| Settings → Appearance | Hide channel groups | Hide groups you never watch for faster scrolling |
Menu names can change between versions, so if you can't find an option, look in neighbouring settings sections.
Free vs Premium: what's the difference?
TiviMate is free to install, but several features — such as favourites, recording, catch-up, multiple playlists and some customisation options — are part of TiviMate Premium, a paid upgrade sold by the developer. The free version is enough to check that your login works. Buy Premium only through TiviMate's official purchase route; the developer offers a separate companion app for this.
Troubleshooting TiviMate
"Can't load playlist" or "Server error"
Re-check the server address for a missing port or wrong http/https. Then check that your plan is active. The login guide lists the common errors.
Channels buffer or freeze
Increase the buffer size in Playback settings, switch to Ethernet if possible, and work through the buffering guide.
TiviMate is slow to scroll
Hide unused channel groups, clear the app cache in the device's settings, and restart the device. Older or low-memory sticks struggle with very large guides.
Frequently asked questions
Does TiviMate include channels?
No. TiviMate is only a player. You need a playlist or login from a service such as XCodes IPTV.
Can I use TiviMate on an iPhone or Samsung TV?
TiviMate is built for Android TV and Fire OS devices. On Apple devices or Samsung and LG TVs, use a player from that platform's app store — see the Apple and Smart TV guides.
Should I use Xtream Codes or M3U in TiviMate?
Use Xtream Codes when it's available. It loads films and series separately and usually brings in the TV guide automatically.
Can I add more than one playlist?
Adding several playlists is a Premium feature. The free version supports one.
