XCodes IPTV on Smart TV: Samsung and LG Setup Guide

Watch XCodes IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV: pick a player from the TV store, activate it, add your login and fix common issues.

Watching XCodes IPTV directly on your Smart TV means no extra box and one fewer remote. Samsung and LG TVs can't install Android apps, though, so you need a player app from the TV's own store. This guide shows you how to find one, add your login, and avoid the pitfalls that catch people out.

If your TV runs Google TV or Android TV (common on Sony, TCL, Hisense and Philips sets), follow the Android TV guide instead — you'll have far more app choices.

Step 1: Check your TV platform and model year

BrandPlatformWhere to find apps
SamsungTizen OSApps on the home screen (Samsung Apps)
LGwebOSLG Content Store (called Apps on newer models)
Sony, TCL, Philips, Hisense (some models)Google TV / Android TVGoogle Play — see the Android guide
Hisense (other models)VIDAAVIDAA app store — choice is limited

Model year matters because store apps support different TV generations. On Samsung, the model code on the back label tells you the year; on LG, check Settings → Support → TV Information.

Step 2: Choose a player app from the TV store

  1. Open the store and search for "IPTV".
  2. Read each app's description and confirm it supports Xtream Codes or M3U playlists.
  3. Check whether the app is free, has a free trial period, or needs a one-off activation fee. Many Smart TV players are free for a few days and then ask for a small payment to the app developer — this is separate from your IPTV subscription.

Available apps change regularly and vary by country, so we don't name a single "best" one. If an app has many recent complaints about crashes on your TV's model year, choose another.

Step 3: Activate the app (if required)

Many Smart TV IPTV players don't let you type a login on the TV. Instead:

  1. Open the app. It shows a MAC address or device ID and a device key, plus a website address.
  2. On your phone or computer, go to that website (the official one shown on your TV — not a search result).
  3. Enter the MAC address / device ID and key.
  4. Add your playlist there — this is where you enter your XCodes IPTV details.

Your TV app then downloads the playlist the next time you open it or press "reload".

Step 4: Add your XCodes IPTV login

Depending on the app, you will either:

  • Choose Xtream Codes login and enter the server URL, username and password, or
  • Paste an M3U link into the app's website

If you have both options, choose Xtream Codes: films and series stay organised in separate menus and the TV guide usually loads automatically. The login guide explains each field.

Some app websites give you the option to protect the playlist with a PIN. It's worth setting — it stops anyone who knows your device's MAC address from changing your playlist.

Step 5: Load and test

  1. Go back to the TV and open (or restart) the app.
  2. Wait for the channel list to load — large lists can take a minute or two.
  3. Test a few live channels, a film and a series episode.
  4. Check the TV guide times. If they're an hour or more out, adjust the app's time-zone or EPG offset setting. Our EPG fix guide explains how.

Smart TV performance tips

  • Wire the TV with Ethernet. Many Smart TVs have weaker Wi-Fi than a modern streaming stick. Note that some TVs' Ethernet ports are limited to 100 Mbps — still plenty for 4K.
  • Update the TV software: Samsung Settings → Support → Software Update; LG Settings → Support → Software Update.
  • Fully restart the TV. Pressing the power button often only puts it in standby. Unplug it for 30 seconds, or hold the power button until the TV restarts.
  • Keep channel lists lean. If your app lets you hide groups you don't watch, do it — older TVs handle smaller lists much faster.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install an APK on a Samsung or LG TV?

No. Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) TVs don't run Android apps. Use an app from the TV's store, or plug in an Android-based streaming device.

Why does the app ask me to pay when I already have a subscription?

Your XCodes IPTV plan pays for the service. Some player apps charge a separate fee to their developer to unlock the app on your TV. Check the app's terms before activating.

My TV says the playlist failed to load. What now?

Check the login on the app's website for typos, confirm the server URL includes the port, then restart the TV fully. If it still fails, test the same login on a phone to see if the issue is the TV app.

Is a Smart TV app or a Firestick better?

A Smart TV app is more convenient; a streaming device usually offers more apps, faster menus and more frequent updates. Many people start with the TV app and add a stick later if it feels slow.
